LOG files not saving on network drive

Martin Nov 02, 2018 02:20AM PDT

I'm testing Fastvue syslog server and first impressions are good, nice and simple, everything except this works. Only problem I have is that saving log files on NAS drive doesn't work. On dashboard, I can see "total messages" growing, but "total log size" stays on 0MB. Permissions on the drive are set up correctly. Everything is ok locally. Tried both using UNC path and mapping the drive, restarted services.

Am I doing something wrong? Thanks!

Hey Martin,

Thank you for reaching out to us today. When writing to the network drive you will want to use the UNC path. Also, make sure the *Domain\Computername$* has access to the UNC path. The reason for the PC having access is when you log out the system is writing files as itself and not a user.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or issues.

Hey Martin,

We didn't hear back from you after our follow up email last week. I hope everything is going well with Fastvue Syslog. I'll go ahead and resolve this case, but please let us know if you have any further issues or questions.
